Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
• Support safe and comfortable mealtimes, including feeding assistance and monitoring intake when needed
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Assist with ambulation, transfers and mobility support while using safe body mechanics
• Document care activities clearly and timely to keep the care team informed
• Build positive relationships with residents and families to promote dignity and trust
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices

Qualifications

• Current GNA/CNA certification (or equivalent) recognized in the state of Maryland
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric care preferred but new grads with strong compassion are welcome
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and TB screenings as required
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA/CNA program and current certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) and elderly care needs
• Comfortable with safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Ability to observe, document and communicate resident changes clearly
• Basic infection prevention and control practices
• Compassionate bedside manner and patience when working with seniors
• Reliable time management and teamwork skills
