Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
- Support safe and comfortable mealtimes, including feeding assistance and monitoring intake when needed
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
- Assist with ambulation, transfers and mobility support while using safe body mechanics
- Document care activities clearly and timely to keep the care team informed
- Build positive relationships with residents and families to promote dignity and trust
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
Qualifications
- Current GNA/CNA certification (or equivalent) recognized in the state of Maryland
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric care preferred but new grads with strong compassion are welcome
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and TB screenings as required
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA/CNA program and current certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) and elderly care needs
- Comfortable with safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Ability to observe, document and communicate resident changes clearly
- Basic infection prevention and control practices
- Compassionate bedside manner and patience when working with seniors
- Reliable time management and teamwork skills
