Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to nursing staff
• Support mealtime and medication routines as directed by licensed staff
• Deliver meaningful social interaction and emotional support to residents
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident status
• Follow infection control protocols and facility safety procedures at all times

Qualifications

• Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or equivalent certification required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• State-required licensure/registration for Maryland (or ability to obtain) required
• Background check and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility policy
• Comfortable working with older adults and managing common geriatric needs
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and safety practices
• Ability to assist with transfers, ambulation and use of mobility aids
• Familiarity with documentation standards in long-term care settings
• Observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
• Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs during a busy shift
