Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide cardiothoracic surgical coverage for cardiovascular and trauma services, ensuring high-quality perioperative care
- Perform and lead procedures including aneurysm repair, thoracic surgery, arterial bypass, peripheral vascular procedures, AAA repair, and bypass surgery
- Utilize full cath lab capabilities as needed to support patient care and procedures
- Collaborate with RNFA, APPs, nursing, and ancillary teams to coordinate patient flow and post-operative care
- Respond promptly to on-call issues overnight and manage urgent surgical and consult needs
- Document clinical encounters and procedures accurately in Cerner EHR to maintain clear patient records
Qualifications
- Proven experience in cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgical care, including trauma services and vascular procedures
- Comfort and competence with cath lab procedures and complex arterial and thoracic surgeries
- Experience working with Cerner EHR for documentation and order management
- Ability to provide reliable 24-hour on-call coverage as described in the assignment
- Strong team collaboration skills to work effectively with RNFAs, APPs, nursing, and surgical support staff
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiothoracic surgery techniques and perioperative management
- Vascular surgery and arterial bypass procedures
- Aneurysm and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair expertise
- Thoracic surgical procedures and postoperative care
- Cath lab workflows and procedural support
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic health record system
- Acute trauma service decision-making and cross-disciplinary coordination
