Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care for geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility
- Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to the nursing team
- Support safe transfers and fall prevention efforts using proper techniques
- Document resident care accurately and timely to keep the care team informed
- Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities to promote wellbeing
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- Previous experience working with elderly or long-term care residents is a plus
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and using safe patient handling practices
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Ability to follow care plans and report clinical changes accurately
- Compassion, patience and strong interpersonal skills with older adults
