Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care for geriatric residents, helping with activities of daily living
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and feeding while preserving dignity
- Monitor residents vital signs and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and timely in facility records
- Support infection control and safety practices to maintain a clean care environment
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and care team members to deliver coordinated care
- Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities to support mental and emotional well-being
Qualifications
- State GNA certification or equivalent (Maryland certification preferred or eligible)
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
- Comfortable working overnight shifts and providing hands-on resident care
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with a resident-first attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Experience with geriatric care and understanding of common age-related conditions
- Skilled in safe resident transfers, mobility assistance, and falls prevention
- Competent in taking and recording vital signs and observing clinical changes
- Familiarity with basic documentation and charting practices
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills when working with residents and families
