Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and any changes in resident condition accurately
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care that preserves dignity and promotes independence
- Support nursing staff with feeding, repositioning, and safe transfers
- Document care and observations clearly in resident charts and communicate concerns to the team
- Engage residents in social interaction and meaningful activities to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain upon hire
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
- Strong communication skills and a patient, respectful approach to elder care
- Comfortable with physical aspects of the role, including transfers and assistance with mobility
- Positive attitude and willingness to be a team player in a fast-paced care environment
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and resident-centered practices
- Skill in measuring and recording vital signs accurately
- Ability to assist with activities of daily living safely and respectfully
- Familiarity with basic documentation and reporting procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Basic infection control practices and attention to resident safety
