Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
• Observe and report changes in residents’ conditions to nursing staff promptly
• Accurately document care activities and resident responses in the chart
• Support safe transfer and mobility techniques to prevent falls and injuries
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA program preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Comfortable working with elderly populations and assisting with ADLs
• Dependable, compassionate, and able to communicate clearly with residents and team members
• Ability to pass facility background checks and health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or GED; completion of an accredited GNA program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Proficient in assisting with ADLs and safe resident handling techniques
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Knowledge of infection control and resident safety best practices
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
