Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
- Observe and report changes in residents’ conditions to nursing staff promptly
- Accurately document care activities and resident responses in the chart
- Support safe transfer and mobility techniques to prevent falls and injuries
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA program preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Comfortable working with elderly populations and assisting with ADLs
- Dependable, compassionate, and able to communicate clearly with residents and team members
- Ability to pass facility background checks and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED; completion of an accredited GNA program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Proficient in assisting with ADLs and safe resident handling techniques
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Knowledge of infection control and resident safety best practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
