Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, preserving dignity and independence
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor residents and promptly report changes in condition to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and timely to ensure continuity and quality
• Contribute to a positive, resident-focused atmosphere by engaging in friendly, respectful interactions
• Follow infection control practices and facility policies to keep residents safe
• Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Valid GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in Maryland or eligibility to be listed on the state registry
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen and required health screenings
• Experience in geriatric care or long-term care preferred; new grads with strong caregiving experience encouraged to apply
• Strong communication skills, patience, and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related changes
• Safe resident handling and fall prevention techniques
• Basic vital signs and observational skills
• Infection control and standard precautions
• Accurate charting and documentation
• Compassionate interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
