Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Monitor and record vital signs, reporting changes to nursing staff promptly
• Support residents during meals and assist with feeding as needed
• Maintain a safe, clean and dignified environment for residents
• Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families and the interdisciplinary team
• Assist with mobility, transfers and fall prevention following facility protocols
• Participate in care plan updates and contribute observations to improve resident outcomes

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• Valid state-required certifications and licenses for direct care
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
• Previous experience in geriatric or long-term care settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and a patient, respectful demeanor
• Ability to follow care plans, facility policies and infection control practices

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA or CNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and geriatric care principles
• Comfortable taking and documenting vital signs and resident observations
• Skill in safe resident transfers and basic mobility assistance
• Familiarity with infection control, skin integrity and fall prevention
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow direction from licensed nurses
• Empathy, patience and strong interpersonal skills for working with older adults
