Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility assistance
• Assist with activities of daily living to promote dignity and independence
• Take and record vital signs accurately and promptly, escalating changes to the clinical team
• Support meal assistance, feeding and hydration monitoring with attention to dietary needs
• Maintain clear, timely documentation and charting to ensure continuity of care
• Communicate respectfully with residents, families and the interdisciplinary care team
• Help create a safe, clean, and comfortable environment that supports resident well-being
• Participate in shift handoffs, safety checks and team huddles to improve resident outcomes

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification in the state of Maryland or completion of an approved GNA program
• State-required basic certifications such as CPR/BLS preferred
• Current TB screening and immunizations per facility policy
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Good communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work as part of a care team
• Previous long-term care or geriatric experience is a plus but enthusiasm and a caring mindset count

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a state-approved GNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and safety protocols
• Skill in safe patient transfers, mobility assistance and fall prevention
• Ability to measure and record vital signs accurately
• Infection control practices and proper use of PPE
• Comfortable with resident-centered care and dignified assistance
• Strong observational skills and ability to report clinical changes
