Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults with dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) to promote independence
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and any changes in condition with accuracy
- Document care activities and observations clearly in resident charts and handoffs
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, families, and interdisciplinary team members about resident needs
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
- Support mobility and fall-prevention efforts, using safe lifting and transfer techniques
- Participate in care planning and contribute observations that improve resident outcomes
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable working overnight shifts and supporting a geriatric population
- Ability to pass background checks, drug screen, and TB testing as required
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and reliable work ethic
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident hygiene care
- Basic vital signs and observation skills with strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of infection control practices and safe handling techniques
- Good documentation and time-management abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with residents and families
- Ability to work collaboratively within a nursing team and follow care plans
