Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and feeding
- Observe residents and promptly report changes in condition to nursing staff to ensure timely interventions
- Assist with safe transfers, mobility and fall prevention strategies to protect resident safety
- Maintain a clean, dignified, and comfortable environment that supports resident well-being
- Document care clearly and accurately in the facility charting system to support the care team
- Engage residents socially and emotionally, offering companionship and meaningful interaction
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to follow individualized care plans and improve outcomes
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent, as required by state
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background check and TB screening
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Dependable, compassionate, and able to work independently during night shifts
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a recognized GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with activities of daily living and basic resident care
- Basic vital signs monitoring and resident observation skills
- Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
- Strong communication with residents, families, and clinical staff
- Accurate charting and basic documentation practices
- Infection control principles and appropriate use of PPE
