Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting with dignity and respect
• Support safe transfers and mobility assistance, using proper body mechanics and lifting techniques
• Monitor and record basic clinical information such as vitals, intake/output, and behavioral changes
• Provide compassionate companionship and meaningful engagement to improve resident well-being
• Document care accurately in resident charts and communicate changes to the nursing team
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to maintain a safe environment
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to support individualized care plans
• Respond promptly to resident needs and emergency situations with calm, professional action

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or willing to obtain)
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or skilled nursing settings preferred
• Comfortable working the night shift and performing physically active duties
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a compassionate care team
• Proof of required immunizations and background checks per facility policy

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Ability to accurately observe and document resident status and behaviors
• Familiarity with infection prevention and standard precautions
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and clinical staff
• Time management skills to prioritize resident needs during a shift
• Basic understanding of electronic or paper charting systems
