Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming)
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper techniques to protect residents and yourself
- Assist with meals and feeding, ensuring dietary needs and dignity are maintained
- Observe and report changes in residents' condition to the nursing team promptly
- Help create a warm, home-like environment that promotes resident comfort and independence
- Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with team members
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent credential
- State registry or eligibility to register in Maryland preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfort working with older adults and supporting ADA/geriatrics care routines
- Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and required health screenings
- Dependable, team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and ADLs
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Strong observational skills and ability to communicate resident changes
- Time management to balance routine care and documentation
- Compassion, patience, and a positive bedside manner
