Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living for elderly residents
- Assist nursing staff by monitoring and reporting changes in resident condition promptly
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention through careful transfers and positioning
- Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with the care team
- Help maintain a clean, comfortable, and dignified environment for residents
- Engage residents with respect and dignity, supporting emotional and social needs
Qualifications
- Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification (GNA) or equivalent required, or eligible for Maryland certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or obtainable upon hire
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Ability to pass required background checks, TB screening, and health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to resident care
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work the posted shift schedule
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care and common needs of older adults
- Skill in assisting with ADLs including bathing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
- Accurate documentation and charting abilities
- Understanding of infection control practices and safe patient handling
- Good observational skills to notice and report clinical changes
- Teamwork mindset and respectful communication with residents and staff
