Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living for elderly residents
• Assist nursing staff by monitoring and reporting changes in resident condition promptly
• Support safe mobility and fall prevention through careful transfers and positioning
• Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with the care team
• Help maintain a clean, comfortable, and dignified environment for residents
• Engage residents with respect and dignity, supporting emotional and social needs

Qualifications

• Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification (GNA) or equivalent required, or eligible for Maryland certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or obtainable upon hire
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
• Ability to pass required background checks, TB screening, and health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to resident care
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work the posted shift schedule

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care and common needs of older adults
• Skill in assisting with ADLs including bathing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
• Accurate documentation and charting abilities
• Understanding of infection control practices and safe patient handling
• Good observational skills to notice and report clinical changes
• Teamwork mindset and respectful communication with residents and staff
