Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate perioperative nursing care in Preop and PACU for orthopedic and general surgery patients
- Serve as OR circulator during procedures, ensuring patient safety, sterile technique, and efficient workflow
- Monitor and assess patients in PACU, recognizing and responding quickly to changes in condition
- Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to coordinate smooth patient transitions
- Document patient care accurately and communicate clear handoffs to the next care team
- Participate in quality improvement efforts and maintain compliance with facility policies and standards
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Colorado RN license required
- Active BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Perioperative experience (OR circulation and PACU) with exposure to orthopedic and general surgery cases
- Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in surgical/procedural settings preferred
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in PACU assessment and postoperative stabilization
- Knowledgeable in OR circulation duties, sterile field management, and instrument support
- Familiarity with orthopedic surgical procedures and patient positioning
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond to acute changes in patient status
- Comfortable with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
