Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM (typical day shift); Rotational call coverage including evenings, weekends & holidays (averaging 1-2 call days/week and every other or every third weekend); occasional late days to finish surgical cases
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $83 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments and document care from pre-op through recovery
- Provide primary perioperative nursing in Pre-op, OR circulating and PACU as needed
- Circulate cases effectively, anticipating team needs and ensuring patient safety
- Recover patients in PACU and coordinate timely transfers to next level of care
- Prepare patients for surgery and provide clear, compassionate patient education
- Assist with instrument processing and sterilization, maintaining infection control standards
- Follow national perioperative standards (AORN, IAHCSMM, ASPAN, ASGE) and facility policies
- Communicate and collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgical teams and unit leadership
- Support colleagues during high-volume days and participate in rotational call schedules
- Report to the Surgical Services Manager and contribute to a positive team environment
Qualifications
- Active Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Minimum 3 years combined Pre-op, OR (circulating) and PACU experience preferred
- Current ACLS certification required
- CNOR certification preferred
- Scrub experience preferred and experience with instrument processing/sterilization
- Ability to work rotational call, evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Strong communication skills and the ability to perform in high-stress clinical situations
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN degree and active Colorado RN licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing across Pre-op, Circulator (OR) and PACU
- Patient assessment, monitoring and recovery best practices
- Instrument processing, sterilization and infection control principles
- Familiarity with national standards: AORN, IAHCSMM, ASPAN and ASGE
- Transfer coordination and patient education for surgical populations
- Comfort working with general, OB/GYN, ophthalmology (cataract) and orthopedic cases
- Teamwork, situational awareness, and strong clinical documentation skills
