Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality inpatient nursing care to both adult geriatrics and pediatric patients on a 20-bed med-surg unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop timely nursing interventions to improve outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following ACLS/PALS/BLS protocols when required
• Closely monitor patient status and respond to changes or emergencies, collaborating with the care team
• Document patient care accurately in the medical record and communicate clinical changes during handoff
• Float to other departments as needed and assist with task-oriented coverage (call lights, phones, patient load when qualified)
• Support public health efforts by assisting with immunization clinics as assigned
• Participate in staff meetings and unit orientation activities to maintain strong team communication

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) — position title specifies RN
• American Heart Association BLS and ACLS required; PALS required
• Three (3) years of med-surg nursing experience
• Minimum one (1) year pediatric nursing experience — must be comfortable with both adult and pediatric patients
• Experience working 12-hour night shifts and ability to be flexible with scheduling, weekends, holidays, and occasional on-call shifts
• Comfort with inpatient clinical care, safe medication administration, and acute patient monitoring

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg nursing expertise including adult geriatric care
• Pediatric nursing skills and comfort treating children on a med-surg unit
• Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and patient monitoring skills
• Proficiency with inpatient documentation and effective handoff communication
• Ability to work within established staffing ratios and adapt to changing patient acuity
• Team-oriented, flexible approach to floating and cross-coverage
• Familiarity with infection control practices and immunization clinic workflow
