Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn care for patients and families
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using best-practice assessment and fetal monitoring
• Perform timely interventions and escalate care when maternal or neonatal concerns arise
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, pediatric teams and unit staff to coordinate seamless care
• Educate parents and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding support and newborn safety
• Document assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately in the patient record
• Serve as a clinical resource and advocate for patient-centered, evidence-based maternity care

Qualifications

• Current RN license in New York or eligibility for licensure (compact license accepted if applicable)
• Experience in maternity/obstetrics or postpartum nursing preferred
• Current BLS required; NRP and/or Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
• Comfort and competence working 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced environment
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills and ability to work collaboratively

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in labor, delivery and postpartum nursing practices
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Proficient in maternal and fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Neonatal care basics and newborn assessment knowledge
• Excellent patient education and family-centered care approach
