Shift Type: Night shifts (NOC); exact start/end times vary by facility. Includes on-call responsibility (6-8 call shifts per 6-week schedule). Schedule totals 36-48 hours per week; typically no more than 4 shifts/week unless mutually agreed with OB Manager. Night and on-call coverage required.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Labor & Delivery, Obstetrics and Postpartum nursing care to patients and families
• Respond promptly and effectively to obstetric and neonatal emergencies, including neonatal resuscitation when needed
• Collaborate closely with OB providers, midwives, and the care team to manage labor, deliveries and postpartum transitions
• Perform thorough assessments, monitoring, and documentation of maternal and neonatal status using the facility EMR
• Educate and support patients and families on postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge planning
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to pages/calls in a timely, professional manner
• Contribute to unit-based quality improvement, patient safety initiatives and best-practice protocols

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana or a qualifying compact nursing license
• Experience in Labor & Delivery, Obstetrics and Postpartum care (clinical experience required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Current NRP certification and demonstrated competency in neonatal resuscitation
• Intermediate AWHONN level experience or equivalent obstetrics-focused training
• Comfort with night shift (NOC) work and on-call responsibilities
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with an OB team

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring interpretation and labor support skills
• Neonatal resuscitation knowledge and hands-on NRP skills
• Postpartum assessment and complication recognition
• Comfortable managing high-acuity obstetric scenarios and emergency responses
• Clear patient and family education techniques for postpartum/newborn care
• Proficient clinical documentation and handoff communication
• Teamwork, triage decision-making and adaptability in a community hospital setting
