Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients across the lifespan
- Deliver safe ventilator management and respiratory support consistent with department protocols
- Perform patient assessments, monitor respiratory status, and adjust care plans accordingly
- Collaborate with the cardiopulmonary director, lead RRT, and interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
- Support obstetric and neonatal respiratory needs with strong OB-focused clinical practice
- Document care accurately and communicate changes in patient condition in a timely manner
- Function independently after orientation while participating in unit-based performance improvement
Qualifications
- Current Washington State Respiratory Care Practitioner license (required)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (required)
- Strong obstetrics (OB) experience — must have demonstrated OB competency
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as described (meets department physical requirements)
- Team player attitude with strong communication and clinical judgement
- New graduates with required certifications may be considered
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or equivalent (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Respiratory care fundamentals including airway management and ventilator support
- Patient assessment and development of individualized care plans
- Neonatal resuscitation principles (NRP) and pediatric support (PALS)
- Acute care experience and the ability to function with minimal supervision after orientation
- Accurate documentation, vital sign assessment, and effective interdisciplinary communication
