Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients across the lifespan
• Deliver safe ventilator management and respiratory support consistent with department protocols
• Perform patient assessments, monitor respiratory status, and adjust care plans accordingly
• Collaborate with the cardiopulmonary director, lead RRT, and interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
• Support obstetric and neonatal respiratory needs with strong OB-focused clinical practice
• Document care accurately and communicate changes in patient condition in a timely manner
• Function independently after orientation while participating in unit-based performance improvement

Qualifications

• Current Washington State Respiratory Care Practitioner license (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (required)
• Strong obstetrics (OB) experience — must have demonstrated OB competency
• Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as described (meets department physical requirements)
• Team player attitude with strong communication and clinical judgement
• New graduates with required certifications may be considered

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or equivalent (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Respiratory care fundamentals including airway management and ventilator support
• Patient assessment and development of individualized care plans
• Neonatal resuscitation principles (NRP) and pediatric support (PALS)
• Acute care experience and the ability to function with minimal supervision after orientation
• Accurate documentation, vital sign assessment, and effective interdisciplinary communication
