Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating (varies, includes weekdays and weekends). Primary 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (Day) or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Night). May also include 8-hour day/evening/night coverage (for example 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM, 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM). Schedule expectation: 80 hours per 2-week pay period; must be available for all shifts and float to Long Term Care or ICU as needed.

Candidate Pay Rate: $70 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage and rapidly assess patients presenting to the Emergency Department to prioritize care
- Stabilize and manage acute and critical patients, initiating appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with physicians, ICU and long term care teams when patients require higher or alternate levels of care
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care while documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately
- Float to Long Term Care or ICU as needed and maintain competence across assigned areas
- Participate in shift handoffs, unit huddles, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii or compact RN license eligible
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience (mandatory)
- Ability to work variable shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
- Comfort and experience floating to Long Term Care and ICU settings
- Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain promptly
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/ Diploma/BSN). BSN preferred.

- Strong emergency triage and acute care skills
- Ability to prioritize quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent clinical judgment and patient assessment abilities
- Clear, timely documentation and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
- Adaptability to changing assignments and fluctuating patient acuity
