Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery care to birthing people throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum
• Manage intraoperative support in the operating room and deliver safe handoffs in PACU when surgical births occur
• Deliver couplet care — caring for mother and baby together in postpartum to promote bonding and recovery
• Perform neonatal assessment and stabilization for infants 32 weeks and up, including neonatal resuscitation when needed
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, pediatric teams, and unit staff to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
• Educate and support families on labor progress, newborn care, and postpartum recovery with empathy and clarity
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow hospital policies to uphold quality and safety standards
• Participate in unit-based teamwork and quality improvement efforts to enhance the birthing experience

Qualifications

• Current Colorado RN license in good standing or compact license to practice in Colorado
• American Heart Association BLS and ACLS required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
• STABLE certification required
• Proof of flu vaccine (no exemptions)
• Experience in Labor & Delivery with comfort in OR and PACU settings and postpartum/couplet care; experience with babies 32 weeks and up

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neonatal resuscitation and stabilization skills
• Proficiency in labor assessment, fetal monitoring, and intrapartum interventions
• Experience providing postpartum and couplet care
• Ability to function in OR and PACU environments and manage transitions of care
• Team-focused communication, sound clinical judgment, and patient education skills
• Familiarity with evidence-based maternity care and unit-level quality initiatives
