Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist CVOR surgeons as the RN First Assistant, providing direct hands-on support during procedures
• Perform open and endoscopic leg vein harvest with precision and efficiency
• Support complex cardiac and vascular cases including CABG, MVR, TAVR, AVR, endoluminal AAA and thoracic procedures
• Provide wound exposure, control bleeding, suture, and manage tissue handling to support optimal surgical outcomes
• Staff and prepare operating rooms, coordinate supplies and instrumentation, and maintain sterile technique
• Communicate clearly with the surgical team to prioritize patient safety and smooth workflow
• Participate in call rotation and respond professionally when called to assist

Qualifications

• RN First Assistant experience in CVOR is required
• At least 2-3 years of relevant CVOR or first assistant experience
• Demonstrated proficiency with open and endoscopic vein harvest
• Proven experience assisting in CABG, MVR, TAVR, AVR, endoluminal AAA, thoracic procedures, CEAs and vascular cases
• Comfortable working a 4x10 day schedule and participating in a 10 days/month call rotation

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of CVOR surgical procedures and instrumentation
• Skilled in open and endoscopic vein harvest techniques
• Proficient in hemostasis, suturing, tissue handling and wound exposure
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and maintain OR flow
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity environments
• Commitment to patient safety, sterile technique and perioperative best practices
