Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in pre-anesthesia, post-anesthesia Phase I, and Phase II to support excellent surgical outcomes
• Monitor patients closely and intervene promptly during recovery from anesthesia to ensure safety and comfort
• Administer and monitor sedation for selected procedures, following protocols and physician orders
• Monitor local-only patients in the OR and provide timely communication with the surgical team
• Act as a strong patient advocate, ensuring patients and families understand care plans and feel supported
• Direct and supervise assigned personnel, promoting teamwork and safe delegation
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to established standards, policies, and procedures
• Participate in the regular on-call rotation for the Post-Anesthesia Unit to provide continuous patient coverage

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon or compact RN license accepted if applicable
• Experience in perioperative nursing or PACU preferred; demonstrated ability to manage post-anesthesia patients
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or as required by the facility
• Comfort with providing monitored sedation and OR monitoring for local-only cases
• Ability to participate in a scheduled on-call rotation
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in post-anesthesia care (Phase I and Phase II) and pre-anesthesia preparation
• Skilled in patient monitoring and recognizing post-operative complications
• Familiarity with perioperative protocols, sedation practices, and OR patient monitoring
• Ability to supervise and direct clinical staff and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
• Patient-centered approach with strong advocacy and teaching skills
• Comfortable handling on-call responsibilities and variable schedules
