Shift Type: Night shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM, nights (exact days vary based on unit schedule; may include weekends)

Candidate Pay Rate: $74 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn patients
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using established fetal monitoring practices
- Perform thorough newborn assessments and support initial newborn care and transition
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe patient care
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and unit overflow from Progressive Care Unit
- Educate families on postpartum care, newborn care, and discharge planning to promote positive outcomes
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Vermont or eligibility for licensure
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and fetal monitoring certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, or Newborn Care preferred; flexible to float to other units
- Strong assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills with comfort managing acute situations
- Comfort working night shift and adapting to unit flow and patient acuity
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical knowledge of labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn physiology
- Proficiency with maternal/fetal monitoring systems and newborn assessment tools
- Ability to prioritize, triage, and escalate care appropriately
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and care teams
- Adaptability to float to Progressive Care Unit and other areas when needed
