Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct and indirect nursing care for psychiatric and co-occurring substance use patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and contribute meaningful input to individualized treatment plans
• Develop, implement, and document nursing interventions grounded in trauma-informed recovery models
• Lead teams when assigned as charge nurse—coordinate care, delegate tasks, and support staff
• Use the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for accurate, timely documentation and communication
• Apply crisis management and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe therapeutic milieu
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams to champion patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the State of Massachusetts (required)
• Minimum one year of psychiatric nursing experience (required)
• CPR certification (required)
• Willingness to float between units and assume charge nurse responsibilities
• Previous inpatient psychiatric and/or substance use experience (preferred)
• Restraint reduction, de-escalation and crisis intervention experience (preferred)
• BSN preferred

Education

• RN license within the State of Massachusetts required
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and care planning with a trauma-informed approach
• Strong crisis management and de-escalation techniques
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records and solid computer/typing skills
• Ability to develop therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
• Time management, delegation, coaching and team-building capabilities
• Calm, organized approach to stressful clinical situations and strong critical thinking
