Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide holistic, individualized care using the nursing process for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, nursery and post-op gynecology patients
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care independently while collaborating with charge nurses and physicians
- Manage supplies and equipment to ensure a safe, efficient unit
- Demonstrate clinical competency and sound nursing judgment during labor, delivery and recovery
- Deliver patient and family education with compassion and clarity
- Document care accurately and adhere to hospital policies including confidentiality and advance directives
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state requirements must be met prior to start)
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Minimum one year of acute care nursing experience
- Must have Labor and Delivery experience and be willing to work in Labor/Delivery and Recovery
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification and STABLE
- Must meet state COVID-19 vaccination mandate
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Knowledge & Skills
- Nursing assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation
- Skilled in antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and OB recovery care
- Neonatal resuscitation and newborn stabilization practices
- Strong clinical judgment and unit-specific procedural competence
- Effective verbal and written communication and patient education skills
- Computer skills for charting and documentation
- Teamwork and collaboration with interdisciplinary staff
