Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess adult and geriatric patients thoroughly and plan individualized nursing care
- Monitor and record vital signs, perform focused physical assessments, and document per standards
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during procedures and examinations
- Administer medications safely, start and manage IVs and blood products, and operate infusion devices
- Manage ventilators, defibrillators, EKGs and cardiac monitors when caring for critically ill patients
- Recognize and respond to potential life-threatening crises, escalating to the care team as needed
- Educate patients and families about treatments, post-procedure care, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, JCAHO-compliant care
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license from any U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) desired
- Minimum three (3) years full-time experience in the last five years caring for adult patients in an acute care setting
- Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing or similar adult acute care environments
Education
- Diploma, ADN, or BSN from an accredited school of nursing
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient care skills with sound critical thinking and clinical judgment
- Excellent communication and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and families
- Knowledge of medical disorders, diagnostic studies, and adult treatment protocols
- Familiarity with equipment and supplies, and ability to operate ventilators, defibrillators, EKG and cardiac monitors
- Ability to perform wound care, dressing changes, and manage PCA/epidural infusions
