Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care for CTICU/CVICU patients including post-operative cardiac surgery recovery
• Perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
• Manage ventilators and other respiratory support in collaboration with RTs
• Perform and maintain sterile technique for central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertions
• Deliver bedside therapies such as CRRT, IABP, ECMO support and care for transplant patients as appropriate
• Lead as charge nurse when assigned (no patient assignment) and coordinate unit workflow
• Float to other ICUs and Tele units when requested, delivering consistent, high-quality care
• Document care accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team
• Complete required SIMs Lab skills and pass competency exams during orientation

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (able to submit; employer willing to wait)
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience; CVICU experience preferred
• MUST HAVE Level I trauma experience
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• CCRN preferred (nice-to-have)
• Strong IV skills, central line and Foley catheter competency
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Travel team requirements: own vehicle; appearance requirements include natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men clean-shaven for fit testing
• Willingness to complete pass/fail SIMs Lab on day 1 of orientation (Foley insertion, central line dressing changes as required)

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac/CVICU critical care and post-op cardiac surgery management (CABG, TAVR, thoracic cases)
• Hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/interpretation
• Ventilator and respiratory management
• CRRT, IABP, ECMO familiarity and bedside procedure experience
• Central line care, Foley catheter skills, and strong IV insertion skills
• Experience with Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry systems
• Bronchoscopy assistance, Swan-Ganz catheter management, epidural management and wound care
• Ability to maintain sterile field and perform frequent bedside procedures
