Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for adult ICU patients, including post-CABG and transplant cases
• Monitor hemodynamics and titrate therapies to maintain patient stability
• Manage ventilated patients and perform ventilator adjustments per protocols
• Deliver high-quality, compassionate bedside care and clear bedside shift reporting
• Collaborate with intensivists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Respond quickly to codes and emergent situations using ACLS/BLS skills
• Document care accurately in the Meditech system and communicate updates to the care team
• Support unit safety and quality initiatives in a high-acuity environment

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses NOT accepted)
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience (CVICU or similar high-acuity experience preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Proven experience with hemodynamic monitoring and post-CABG care
• Comfort managing ventilated patients; ventilator management experience required
• Experience or comfort working with ECMO, heart transplant, and other advanced cardiac care is a plus
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation preferred
• Professional bedside manner and commitment to bedside shift report and teamwork

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of critical care protocols, cardiac post-op care, and ventilator management
• Strong assessment skills and ability to interpret hemodynamic data
• Skilled in ACLS algorithms, code leadership, and CPR
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity ICU with complex cardiac cases
• Effective communicator with multidisciplinary teams and families
• Accurate, timely documentation and electronic charting (Meditech experience preferred)
• Ability to float to other ICUs or PCU as needed depending on volume
• Commitment to unit policies, professional appearance, and respectful patient care
