Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases
- Serve as the patient advocate during the surgical experience, ensuring safety and dignity
- Function as the circulating RN, coordinating the surgical team and resources for smooth cases
- Direct and supervise assigned personnel while maintaining standards of care and policies
- Collaborate with the Unit Nurse Manager, House Supervisor, or RN Team Leader to optimize patient flow
- Document care thoroughly and contribute to continuous improvement of perioperative processes
- Maintain readiness for a variety of surgical cases and support the team during high-demand periods
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse licensure (able to practice in Oregon)
- Experience in perioperative nursing as a circulator or surgical RN
- Comfort supervising and directing assigned staff during cases
- Strong patient advocacy and clinical judgment in the surgical setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; perioperative certification (CNOR) a plus
- Ability to work the stated day shift schedule and adapt to a flexible day schedule
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN/BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care expertise
- Familiarity with standards of care, policies, and procedures in surgical environments
- Patient advocacy and the nursing process applied in perioperative settings
- Staff supervision and team coordination during surgical cases
- Strong documentation, communication, and situational awareness skills
