Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead infection prevention efforts across the hospital, with a focus on the operating room and sterile processing
• Develop, implement, and monitor infection control policies and procedures that protect patients and staff
• Conduct surveillance, risk assessments, and outbreak investigations when indicated
• Collaborate with OR teams, SPD staff, nursing units, and leadership to promote best practices
• Provide education and competency assessment for staff on infection prevention protocols
• Analyze infection data and generate actionable reports to drive continuous improvement
• Support regulatory readiness and adherence to hospital and public health standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Hawaii licensure preferred or ability to obtain
• Demonstrated experience in Infection Control in a hospital setting, with hands-on OR and sterile processing exposure
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across multidisciplinary teams
• Experience with surveillance, data analysis, and infection prevention program implementation
• Current BLS certification required; additional certifications a plus

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of infection prevention principles and practices
• Understanding of sterile processing workflows and operating room environments
• Ability to interpret surveillance data and translate findings into action
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and reporting for healthcare-associated infections
• Strong teaching and coaching skills for staff education and competency testing
• Comfortable using electronic health records and infection surveillance tools
