Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed radiation treatments safely and accurately using linear accelerators and CT simulation
- Collaborate with physicians, dosimetrists and nursing staff to follow individualized patient treatment plans
- Ensure radiation safety protocols are followed for patients, staff and the public
- Operate and maintain therapy equipment including tomotherapy and HDR brachytherapy units with care
- Provide compassionate patient care, educating patients and families about procedures and what to expect
- Monitor and document patient status and treatment delivery in the electronic medical record
- Participate in quality assurance, safety checks and equipment calibrations to maintain accreditation standards
- Support inpatient monitoring and sedation/analgesia care as required, escalating concerns appropriately
Qualifications
- Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist license (required)
- Current CPR certification at the Healthcare Professional level (required)
- Experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred — bring your accelerator and patient-care skills
- Comfort operating linear accelerators, CT simulators and blood irradiator equipment
- Familiarity with high dose rate and low dose rate brachytherapy, tomotherapy and stereotactic procedures is a plus
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 pounds and assisting ambulatory patients
- Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset with a compassionate approach to patient care
Knowledge & Skills
- Radiation therapy treatment administration and radiation safety best practices
- Operation of linear accelerators and CT simulation workflows
- High Dose Rate (HDR) and Low Dose Rate (LDR) brachytherapy concepts
- Tomotherapy and stereotactic radiosurgery familiarity
- Patient assessment, monitoring and basic sedation/analgesia support
- Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation and basic computer skills
- Ability to follow detailed treatment plans and perform QA checks
