Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology and women's surgical nursing care across a 24-bed unit
• Administer medications and therapies safely, following hospital and oncology-specific protocols
• Perform clinical procedures as needed (occasional pelvic exams, echo monitoring, thoracentesis support)
• Closely monitor patient status and intervene promptly for changes in condition
• Document thoroughly and accurately in the Cerner EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team—physicians, CNAs, HUCs and other RNs—to deliver coordinated care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and post-discharge plans with clarity and compassion
• Support unit staffing needs and float to other med-surg areas when required, while maintaining high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (NC or compact where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (oncology or med-surg experience preferred)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• Chemo certification preferred (candidates with chemo certification will be considered first)
• Comfort with Cerner EMR and accurate clinical documentation
• Team-player attitude, strong communication skills and willingness to learn unit-specific protocols

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing fundamentals and med-surg skills
• Familiarity with chemotherapy protocols and safe handling (if certified)
• Proficiency using Cerner electronic medical record
• Ability to manage patient ratios of approximately 1:4 to 1:5
• Clinical assessment, triage and post-op care aptitude
• Strong patient education and family communication skills
• Adaptability to rotating shifts and occasional float assignments
