Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a high-volume Emergency Department
- Deliver compassionate, evidence-based emergency nursing care for trauma and stroke patients
- Administer medications, manage Baxter pumps, and monitor patients using GE monitors
- Document patient care thoroughly and efficiently in Cerner
- Coach and mentor peers in real time, providing constructive feedback to strengthen the team
- Communicate clearly with patients and families, following AIDET and patient experience best practices
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, timely disposition of patients
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state appropriate) and current BLS required before start
- ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS certifications required before start or per hiring guidelines
- ENPC to be completed within 90 days of hire
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting
- Experience in a Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits) preferred
- Strong teamwork mindset and ability to coach and give feedback in real time
- Willingness to float to all sections within the ED
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient documentation in Cerner
- Familiarity with Baxter infusion pumps and GE cardiac monitors
- Experience with trauma and stroke protocols and high-acuity assessments
- Comfort working in high-volume, fast-paced ED environments
- Excellent communication skills and patient-focused bedside manner
- Ability to maintain patient experience standards (AIDET) and update boards throughout visits
