Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled, compassionate nursing care in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum and the Baby Unit
• Monitor maternal and newborn status and intervene promptly when changes occur
• Support safe deliveries and assist with newborn transition to extrauterine life
• Care for postpartum patients including education, assessment and discharge planning
• Float to other units as needed and assist with Progressive Care Unit overflow
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives and multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellent patient-centered care
• Document assessments, interventions and patient education accurately and timely
• Participate in quality improvement activities and contribute to a culture of safety

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required; must be eligible to practice in Vermont
• Experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum and Newborn/Baby Unit care
• Comfort and experience working night shift/NOC
• Ability and willingness to float to other units and support Progressive Care overflow
• Strong assessment, communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical knowledge of maternal and newborn care and postpartum recovery
• Comfort managing routine L&D procedures and newborn assessments
• Skill in patient and family education and discharge planning
• Ability to assess acuity changes and escalate appropriately
• Team-oriented approach and adaptability across unit settings
