Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to telemetry changes to keep patients safe
• Manage central lines and titrate medication drips with precision and clinical judgment
• Provide heart cath recovery care and assist with bubble studies and other post-procedure monitoring
• Operate and troubleshoot PCA and IV pumps, and manage chest tubes as needed
• Document care accurately in Meditech to ensure clear communication across the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and unit staff to maintain appropriate patient ratios and continuity of care
• Educate patients and families about condition changes, medications, and recovery plans
• Use strong critical thinking to prioritize and escalate care when clinical situations change

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kansas license or compact state as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (telemetry or acute care experience strongly preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Demonstrated telemetry experience, including cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Comfortable with central lines, medication drips, PCA and IV pumps, chest tubes, and heart cath recovery
• Positive attitude, strong critical thinking, and ability to work independently and as part of a team

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ASN/ADN, or BSN)
• Current RN license and required certifications (BLS, ACLS)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring expertise
• Experience with Meditech or similar EMR systems
• Proficiency managing central lines and medication drips
• Familiarity with PCA pumps, IV pumps, chest tubes, and post-heart cath care
• Excellent clinical assessment, prioritization, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively on night shift and adapt to unit workflows
