Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation, setup, and instrumentation for complex cardiovascular procedures including CABG, TAVR, valve replacement, and AAA repairs
• Maintain sterile field, perform accurate surgical counts, and ensure all instruments and implants are available and ready
• Operate and support OR equipment (Stryker, GE) and collaborate with perfusion, anesthesia, and RN team members for seamless case flow
• Document perioperative care and case details in the Meditech EMR in a clear, timely manner
• Provide reliable coverage as part of a 3-person team (2 RN + 1 CST) and staff emergency standby when required
• Communicate proactively with the team to ensure 1:1 patient focus and excellent perioperative outcomes

Qualifications

• CST or ORT credential (Surgical Technologist certification) required
• Minimum 3 years of cardiovascular surgery experience (CV Surgery experience explicitly requested)
• CVOR experience is mandatory for consideration
• Comfortable assisting with high-acuity procedures such as CABG, TAVR, valve replacement, and AAA
• Able to work weekday day shifts and fulfill one weekday night on-call shift per week

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of cardiovascular OR workflows and sterile technique
• Experience with Stryker and GE OR equipment
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic medical record system
• Strong teamwork, flexibility, and confident communication under pressure
• Ability to manage instrument sets, implants, and complex case logistics
