Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert respiratory assessment and treatment to acute care patients, improving breathing and outcomes
- Operate and manage mechanical ventilators (Servo I, Hamilton and similar) to optimize patient ventilation
- Perform ABG collection and interpretation to guide timely clinical decisions
- Deliver noninvasive support including CPAP and BiPAP and titrate settings safely
- Administer and monitor nebulizer therapy and chest physiotherapy (CPT) interventions
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses and the care team to create and adjust respiratory care plans
- Document care thoroughly in Meditech EMR to ensure continuity and accurate communication
- Participate in unit workflow including procedures, patient education and emergency response
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of current acute care hospital RRT experience
- Experience with Meditech EMR is preferred by the director
- Trauma experience is a plus and will be considered first when available
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong respiratory assessment and treatment skills for a wide range of diagnoses
- Mechanical ventilation management and troubleshooting
- ABG sampling and interpretation expertise
- Proficiency with CPAP, BiPAP, nebulizer therapy and chest physiotherapy
- Familiarity with ventilator models and interfaces (e.g., Servo I, Hamilton, Astral, V60)
- Comfortable and accurate documentation in Meditech EMR
- Team-player mindset, critical thinking, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced unit
