Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality progressive care nursing to PCU patients, monitoring and responding to changes in condition
- Perform thorough assessments, interpret cardiac/telemetry data, and escalate concerns promptly
- Administer medications and IV therapies accurately and safely
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
- Document care clearly and timely in the patient record to support continuity and compliance
- Participate in shift handoffs and unit-based quality improvement activities
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in North Carolina (ability to obtain NC licensure required)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (PCU/progressive care experience strongly preferred)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification recommended
- Demonstrated ability to manage telemetry/monitoring and moderately complex patient care
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Progressive Care/PCU clinical knowledge and best practices
- Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
- Experience with telemetry/cardiac monitoring and recognizing arrhythmias
- Medication administration, IV therapy, and clinical documentation
- Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced inpatient setting
- Ability to prioritize workload and respond to changing patient needs
