Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care nursing to PCU patients, monitoring and responding to changes in condition
• Perform thorough assessments, interpret cardiac/telemetry data, and escalate concerns promptly
• Administer medications and IV therapies accurately and safely
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
• Document care clearly and timely in the patient record to support continuity and compliance
• Participate in shift handoffs and unit-based quality improvement activities

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in North Carolina (ability to obtain NC licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (PCU/progressive care experience strongly preferred)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification recommended
• Demonstrated ability to manage telemetry/monitoring and moderately complex patient care

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive Care/PCU clinical knowledge and best practices
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Experience with telemetry/cardiac monitoring and recognizing arrhythmias
• Medication administration, IV therapy, and clinical documentation
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced inpatient setting
• Ability to prioritize workload and respond to changing patient needs
