Shift Type: Rotating nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, includes every other weekend (Night shift)

Candidate Pay Rate: $42 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for newborns, including routine and Level 2 care
- Manage phototherapy and blood glucose monitoring for infants requiring specialized treatment
- Perform thorough newborn assessments and monitor clinical status to identify changes early
- Chart accurately and efficiently using Meditech and CPN to ensure seamless communication
- Collaborate with mothers and the multidisciplinary team to support safe transitions and family education
- Maintain safe patient ratios and prioritize infection control and infant safety
- Escalate concerns promptly and participate in bedside handoffs to ensure continuity of care
- Help create a warm, welcoming environment for families during their newborn's stay
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse licensure (compact or Texas RN license as required)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant newborn or mother-baby nursing experience
- Current BLS certification required
- NRP certification required
- Comfortable caring for stable Level 2 newborns (phototherapy, blood sugar monitoring)
- Experience with Meditech and CPN strongly preferred
- Warm, patient-centered approach with strong communication and teamwork skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in newborn assessment, thermoregulation, and feeding support
- Experience managing phototherapy and neonatal blood glucose monitoring
- Familiarity with Meditech electronic charting and CPN workflows
- Ability to work effectively in 1:5-6 patient ratios while maintaining quality care
- Strong family education and bedside coaching skills
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and escalate clinical concerns appropriately
