Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient physical and developmental needs and translate findings into clear, patient-centered plans
• Plan and implement perioperative nursing care, coordinating with surgeons and the entire OR team
• Provide safe, evidence-based circulating nursing care during procedures and ensure sterile technique
• Perform timely documentation of assessments, interventions and patient responses with accuracy
• Monitor diagnostics and labs, escalating abnormal results to physicians and caregivers
• Teach patients and families, evaluate comprehension, and revise education plans as needed
• Delegate and supervise team activities to promote continuity and quality of care
• Precept and mentor peers and students to grow perioperative skills in others
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives to improve outcomes

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license for practice in state or compact RN licensure
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS required within 90 days if assigned pediatric ASC services
• Minimum one year licensed RN experience in OR (PRN roles require two years)
• Newly licensed RNs may qualify if enrolled in PeriOp101 with successful completion within four months
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced OR environment and following policies, standards and regulatory requirements

Education

• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing, or higher

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and OR circulating experience
• Patient assessment, care planning and documentation expertise
• Strong communication and teamwork across multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to review and interpret diagnostics and lab results
• Competence in delegating, mentoring and supporting staff
• Familiarity with infection control, sterile technique and surgical workflows
• Attention to detail, adaptability and critical thinking under pressure
