Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered personal care to geriatric patients
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
- Monitor and document resident condition, vital signs, and changes in behavior
- Follow care plans and communicate updates clearly to nursing staff and families
- Support mobility and fall-prevention strategies to keep residents safe
- Create a warm, respectful environment that promotes dignity and independence
- Participate in team huddles and contribute to a collaborative care approach
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or state-recognized nursing assistant certification
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or must be obtainable upon hire
- Comfortable working with elderly populations and assisting with ADLs
- Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility credentialing requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and respectful care practices
- Skill in assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
- Basic vital signs measurement and documentation
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
- Good observational skills and ability to report changes promptly
- Customer-service mindset when interacting with residents and families
