Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and changes in condition, communicating concerns promptly to nursing staff
- Support resident comfort and dignity while promoting independence whenever possible
- Document care accurately and timely in resident charts and facility systems
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to carry out individualized care plans
- Follow infection control protocols and facility safety standards to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- State registration or licensure as required for work in Maine
- Prior experience in long-term care or similar setting preferred
- Basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; active CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and personal care
- Comfortable taking and recording vital signs accurately
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Basic charting/documentation skills; ability to learn facility EHRs
- Knowledge of infection control and resident safety practices
- Compassionate approach to working with older adults and medically complex residents
