Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition regularly and respond to changes with clinical judgment
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and follow individualized care plans
- Document patient care and progress clearly in the medical record
- Educate patients and families about care plans, medications, and discharge instructions
- Advocate for patient needs and ensure dignity and respect in all interactions
- Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives on the unit
- Support new staff and travelers by sharing unit-specific knowledge and best practices
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (RN) — ability to obtain Maine licensure or hold a compact license where applicable
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications (ACLS, PALS) preferred where applicable
- Clinical experience in a relevant setting is preferred; new grads with strong clinical rotations considered
- Clear background check and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid clinical assessment and monitoring skills
- Medication administration and safe IV skills
- Patient-centered care and strong bedside manner
- Effective documentation in electronic medical records
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative approach to working with interdisciplinary teams
