Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-focused care for geriatric patients, helping with activities of daily living
- Assist with bathing, grooming, feeding and mobility while preserving dignity and independence
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and timely to support continuity and safety
- Support social and emotional needs through friendly interactions and meaningful engagement
- Follow infection control practices and facility policies to maintain a safe environment
Qualifications
- GNA certification required or equivalent state-recognized credential
- Previous experience working with elderly or long-term care residents preferred
- Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check, TB screening and required immunizations
- Reliable, compassionate attitude with good communication and teamwork skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or certified training
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with ADLs, transfers and safe resident handling
- Basic clinical observation and reporting skills
- Familiarity with documentation and charting in a healthcare setting
- Strong interpersonal skills for resident-centered care
- Ability to follow care plans and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
