Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on therapeutic care under the direction of the supervising PT to help patients regain mobility and independence
- Implement treatment plans focused on functional outcomes, documenting progress and adjusting interventions as needed
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety techniques, and strategies to maximize recovery
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create cohesive, patient-centered care plans
- Assist in safe transfers, use of adaptive equipment, and gait training while maintaining patient dignity and comfort
- Accurately document interventions, patient responses, and outcome measures in the facility’s charting system
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted PTA license for California (required)
- Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications a plus
- Prior experience in an outpatient, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation setting preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and the care team
- Ability to pass facility onboarding requirements and background checks
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercise, and functional mobility training
- Skilled in patient assessment, documentation, and implementing evidence-based interventions
- Comfortable with safe patient handling techniques and adaptive equipment
- Good clinical judgment and time management in a fast-paced rehab environment
- Compassionate patient-centered approach with strong interpersonal skills
