Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist
- Implement treatment plans to improve mobility, strength, and functional independence
- Document patient progress accurately and communicate changes to the therapy team
- Assist with therapeutic exercises, modalities, transfers, and gait training
- Educate patients and families on home programs and safety strategies to support recovery
- Collaborate with nurses and multidisciplinary staff to deliver coordinated, effective care
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in California (required prior to start)
- Graduation from an accredited PTA program
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Experience in inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with interdisciplinary teams
- Reliable, professional, and patient-centered approach to care
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic exercise progression and assistive device training
- Skilled in transfers, gait training, and ADL support
- Familiarity with clinical documentation standards and EMR charting
- Ability to follow care plans and modify interventions safely
- Strong observational skills to identify patient changes and report promptly
- Good time management to balance caseload and documentation
