Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist
• Implement treatment plans to improve mobility, strength, and functional independence
• Document patient progress accurately and communicate changes to the therapy team
• Assist with therapeutic exercises, modalities, transfers, and gait training
• Educate patients and families on home programs and safety strategies to support recovery
• Collaborate with nurses and multidisciplinary staff to deliver coordinated, effective care

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in California (required prior to start)
• Graduation from an accredited PTA program
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Experience in inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with interdisciplinary teams
• Reliable, professional, and patient-centered approach to care

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic exercise progression and assistive device training
• Skilled in transfers, gait training, and ADL support
• Familiarity with clinical documentation standards and EMR charting
• Ability to follow care plans and modify interventions safely
• Strong observational skills to identify patient changes and report promptly
• Good time management to balance caseload and documentation
