Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled therapeutic interventions under the direction of a physical therapist to help patients regain mobility and independence
- Implement and document treatment plans, monitor progress, and adjust care as needed to achieve measurable outcomes
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques to support long-term recovery
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and adhere to facility policies and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license or certification; New Mexico licensure preferred or ability to obtain prior to start
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Experience working in rehabilitation or outpatient settings preferred
- Strong communication and patient education skills with a patient-centered approach
- Reliable, professional, and able to work as part of a collaborative care team
Education
- Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assisting or equivalent accredited program completion
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercise, and functional mobility training
- Skilled in gait training, transfers, balance training, and use of assistive devices
- Ability to accurately document patient status, progress, and treatment plans
- Familiarity with safety protocols, infection control, and patient handling techniques
- Good clinical reasoning, time management, and teamwork abilities
